Do you have a sales tax nexus in the state of Florida?

Need to hear a little good news today? Unless you have a sales nexus in Florida then you will not need to collect any. Nexus? That's just a 50 cent word for saying "a significant presence" in the state.

You would be considered to have a nexus if you have any of the following:

- Any owner of property within the state of Florida

- An employee who is present in the state

- Sales of any taxable items like retail

- Alterations/repairs made to any personal property

- Leases, rentals and/or properties that use real property

- Rent for living space short-term

- Manufacturing goods for retail sale

- Service providing that would be considered taxable (i.e. private eye services, interior cleaning services etc.)

- Are importing products from another state or from a foreign country

Do you have sales tax in Florida if you sell FBA?

Amazon is a great way for at home sellers to make a little extra money. In fact, it is one of the most popular sites for shopping in our modern age. However, if you sell from Amazon FBA, you may be more susceptible to sales tax. Storing any physical products within the state can cause you to have sales tax to pay. Amazon houses two warehouses in the state of Florida alone and there could be a chance that some of your product is shipping from here.

To determine if you are a part of the FBA portion of Amazon try one of these two methods:

- Login to Amazon's Seller Central and take a look at your inventory reports.

- Sign up for TaxJar. You can get a 30 day free trial of the service and it will help you to find out whether or not your products are shipping from Florida.
