You will be able to qualify with one day difference for the deductions. If you do not have any mortgage to pay until the age of 65, then you will not be getting the deductions for interest as well. 

Filing Taxes

You will be able to get more return when you file the taxes before time. Being at or above the age of 65, you will be able to get the threshold of taxes back. If you are older than 65, then you can earn about $1000 extra with having your share from the IRS. It is dependent upon the status of the file. 

Having to file jointly can bring you a good return if you have the spouse with you. Having the same age of above 65 years old can bring you the benefit from more earning through IRS. 

Social Security Income Taxes

The income taxes from the social security will not be included in the tax payment for the elderly tax credit. You have to fill the form of 1099 which will show you the total of return through the calculations.
