About Debra Alexander

My History and Commitment

I have been preparing personal 1040 tax returns for over 20 years.  I started in my Fathers' tax business and pursued opening my own tax preparation office in 2004.  I have established a comfortable home office with very flexible hours for my clients.

I pride myself in being very fair in pricing as I believe that everyone should not have to pay an exorbitant amount to have their tax return prepared.  My pricing starts at a low basic level and charges are then added to the amount of work needed.

My commitment is to treat my clients with courtesy and integrity.  I guarantee efficient and honest tax services that achieve reliable results.  I will provide services that are tailored to the unique needs of each client, ensuring the best possible results and maximized returns.  I stay well-informed and continually adapt to the ever-changing world of tax law and preparation.

Pricing starts at $100 for both Federal and State returns with e-filing. Pricing is then added based on the number of forms and schedules and or the amount of work.

2020 EXTENDER BILL SIGNED DECEMBER 2019!

This is good news for taxpayers as it is retroactive back to 2018! The following extenders could create a refund of tax on your 1040 personal tax return when amending it:

     *   Private Mortgage Insurance-Some of you pay this and it is listed on your mortgage interest statement

in box 5 as Mortgage Insurance Premiums.

     *   Personal Residence Acquisition Indebtedness-Exclusion from gross income of discharge of mortgage

debt on a taxpayers main home up to $2 million.

     *  Tuition and Fees Deduction-This is an adjustment to reduce your taxable income if you had

qualified education expenses and were not able to claim the American Opportunity Credit.

The Taxpayer Certainty and Disaster Tax Relief of 2019 Created Many Other Provisions Also. Here are a few:

  • Medical expenses are now deductible in excess of 7.5% through Dec, 31, 2020
  • Non-business energy property is retroactively extended for property placed in service after Dec. 31, 2017 and before Jan. 1, 2021

Setting Every Community Up For Retirement Enhancement Act:

  • Repeal of maximum age for traditional IRA contributions.  Contributions to a traditional IRA are now permitted for eligible taxpayers of any age beginning after Dec. 31, 2019.
  • Increase in age for required minimum distributions (RMD) from 70 1/2 to 72 beginning after Dec, 31, 2019
