Don't Wait! Follow These Tips And Get Organized For The Tax Year

Every year, people spend the months of January and February organizing and preparing for the year. Personally, my organizing period really starts during the holidays: with every gift I receive, I think: "in with the new and out with the old." When I receive a gift, I have to choose the old item to discard. This year, after depositing the new porcelain collected at Christmas and selling my old game on eBay, I opened my office. If you want to start the New Year, follow these tips to help you organize for the year:

Purge, organize, and clean the office

Update your files and replace any damaged files. Purchase new data of different colors and sort them by colors: blue for financial documents, white for customers, etc. Ensure to tag all the files and arrange them in alphabetical order in each color scheme. And do not put the word "Miscellaneous" in a file, once tagged by that, you will forget what you have entered. If you can say aloud what the file is, it has its own label.

Create a list and review it

Create a list and review it. There is nothing more reassuring than marking things in the list of activities! Make a night list of all the things you need to do the next day. Do it every night, even on weekends, to get used to using your to-do list to help you accomplish your tasks.

Use only a calendar

Choose the one that's right for you: one on your computer, a handheld such as a PDA, or a paper type on your desk. Get rid of all other calendars and use one to register and track everything. If you keep several people's programs, such as your children, use different color inks to record information about each family member.

Note in the calendar one week before each event what you need to do for this event.

Do you need to buy wine for a housewarming night? Do you have to send flowers to your mother's birthday? Anyway, write it down in advance so that you can be aware of the tasks.

Create a list of your goals

Write down at least ten goals you want to achieve in your life. Be specific, then save the list and update it next year.

Choose one or two goals you want to accomplish this year with your business

Maybe it's to to have more customers, earn more money, go platinum or whatever you want to achieve. How will you achieve this goal? How much will you make this year different? How are you going to do it? Write this information in a clear sentence, place it next to the bed and read it morning and evening to inspire you, and to help you achieve your goals.

Get rid of all office supplies you have not used in the last year

Return the supplies to the store for a credit or make a donation to your favorite charity. The less mess in your office, the happier your life is. If you buy a new printer, give out the old one. No need for two printers: the first takes only space. This applies to everything that happens in the office.

Start planning now for the next tax period

Tag a box "Tax for next fiscal year" and put it in the office. This box will keep all the tax-related documents throughout the year: bank statements, business invoices, online statements showing invoices you paid, and charitable receipts. At the end of the year, remove the contents of the box and create two piles- business and personal for your accountant (or for you if you pay taxes yourself). The box will be the only place where you can put everything about your taxes. It certainly goes beyond looking for a document at the end of the year.

Update your Rolodex

Take out all the cards of people you never called last year. I can tell you that if a year goes by and you have not contacted them, you will probably never call them. If you think you need to keep the information, put in a file all the cards "I will call you someday" and label them accordingly.
