About Cool Tax, Inc.

Cool Tax The Company

At Cool Tax, we combine old-fashioned quality service—principles like keeping our word, treating you with respect, and just plain being nice are very important to us—with the utilization of modern capabilities. We aim to take advantage of the ability to work together virtually while still building and developing a valuable and meaningful relationship. We utilize cloud-based applications for both the sake of convenience, as well as to save you time and money. The use of these technologies also allows us the ability to work with clients throughout the country. However, if you happen to be in San Francisco (where we’re based) we're always happy to do an in-person meeting at your place of business when it makes sense. But even if we don’t get the chance to meet in real life, we make it a point to get to know you as a person and to try to understand the intricacies of your business. We plan on this being a long-term relationship, so we want to understand who you are and what your goals are for the future so that we can best serve your needs.

Let’s be honest, most people think taxes are a bummer. But they don’t have to be. In a way, your tax return tells a story about you—what you do, where you donate, if you’ve gotten married or had a baby. You and your story are the interesting part. We’d love to make it so that taxes aren’t something you dread. And we’d LOVE to help you and your business grow.

Christina Lacourte, EA The

Owner

Christina studied accounting at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo as an undergraduate. When she had about a year left in the accounting program, she took a pretty big detour and switched her major to environmental horticultural science. She had a serious interest in all things plants and flowers and, when she learned that they offered this unique major at her university, she became enamored with the idea of working in a botanical garden. She even did an internship at a beautiful public garden in Upstate New York. But after graduation, she realized the jobs in this field were limited on the West Coast and found herself gravitating back to the accounting profession. She ended up working at a midsize firm in San Francisco as a staff accountant. During this time, she continued her accounting studies, taking undergraduate courses at San Francisco State and graduate courses in the Masters in Taxation program at Golden Gate University. After working at this firm for several years and gaining experience in both audit and tax, she got married and had twin boys. She shifted gears at that point and took a hiatus to focus on the kids while they were young. Meanwhile, she worked several tax seasons with a variety of different tax practices. When the boys were a bit older, she went back to work as an accountant part-time and eventually (after obtaining her *Enrolled Agent license) decided to branch out on her own.

In addition to crunching numbers, Christina also has an interest in writing (she’s been working on a coming-of-age-thriller type novel for the last five years that she hopes to complete one of these days), flower arranging, lounging in San Francisco parks, and, as of late, collecting vintage calculators and adding machines.
