National Association of Tax Professionals
NH Bar Association
Like many tax practitioners, I started my tax career at a highly reputable tax practice, one of the big box preparers. I even opened up an office for them in Camden, Maine. Then I was offered a position at Fleet Bank of Maine and soon headed up the trust tax department. Working in the trust department, I worked with many different clients and many different types of returns. I had clients who were extremely wealthy with large investment portfolios and those who were working and saving for retirement. The diversity gave me a solid knowledge about taxes and how to utilize the skills to reduce taxes for my clients.
Since then, I have worked in accounting firms and law offices. I became an attorney and am licensed to practice in NH, Federal Court and Tax Court. The knowledge gained is an asset to my clients. I bring the knowledge of tax accounting, business planning, estate planning and simple accounting to the clients I work with today. Yet, I remain competitive with those that do not have all of these skills and knowledge.
In addition, I have a love for the land and animals and have a farm where I raise chickens, guineas and turkeys. Farming is a unique segment of the tax world. There are many programs available to the farmer for grants and deductions that are unique to farmers. As a farmer, I can help you reduce your taxes, and offer advice on possible resources to help grow your future.
Also, possibly like you, I own my own business. I have actually been in business since I was 8 years old and learned through experience how to successfully operate businesses. I have also owned and operated unique businesses, including a retail store and a wholesale import/export wines and liquor business. So, using my own experience in business can help you grow your business and possibly avoid some of the pitfalls that small businesses encounter.
