About Monica Kegler, BA, MPA

Monica L. Kegler is a native of Memphis, TN and a proud alumni and valedictorian graduate of Melrose High School, centrally located in the historic community of Orange Mound.  She received her B.A in Radio and Broadcast News Journalism from the University of Memphis and her Master's in Public Administration from Strayer University. Monica is also certified by the National Career Development Association as a Global Career Development Facilitator. She dedicated 15 years of her life to philanthropy by serving in the Workforce Development capacity at the state and local levels in the Greater Memphis area.  It was during her last employment stint as an employee of Southwest Tennessee Community College (STCC) that she decided she wanted to venture into entrepreneurship and serve her community on a broader scale.  As a part time tax professional, initially, Monica realized the GREAT need for financial education and freedom among citizens of the City of Memphis and the direct connection to the workforce industry.  January 1, 2016 was the commencement of a new journey for her.  She opened the doors to her own business.  While still employed at STCC, although now a business owner, she continued to prepare taxes part time. However, on October 31, 2016, she made the executive decision to become wholly self-employed. Monica is the Owner of Better Days Financial Services in Memphis, TN where she has devoted the last four years of tax preparation and related financial services.  However, she has extensive experience in tax preparation and related services.  Her most recent activities include small business tax preparation, financial consulting, bookkeeping, small business startup assistance, and nonprofit establishment.  In addition to tax preparation services, Monica works tirelessly year round with a plethora of individuals to resolve IRS issues and properly prepare new and existing clients for seamless and hassle free filing for the upcoming tax year.  She also works with a number of small business clients to ensure that they are within the legal parameters of local, state, and federal filing guidelines.    Monica frequently attends workshops, conferences, webinars, and seminars, locally and nationally, to stay abreast of the latest news, laws, best practices, and trends in the tax industry.  In 2017, she was nominated for and awarded the “Best in Black” Award for “Best Tax Service”.  She is a board member, serving in the capacity of Treasurer, for A Better Day Corporation.
